Patrol Division
The Patrol Divison is commanded by Lt. Marvin Trejo. Patrol maintains social order through enforcement of laws, timely response to calls for service, investigation of criminal offenses, apprehension of offenders, enforcement of traffic and city ordinance violations, and a deterrent of presence. Patrol is the largest division of the Dumas Police Department comprised of 4 Sergeants and 13 Patrol Officers. The Patrol Division includes Accident Investigation, Motor Unit, and K-9 Unit.
Patrol Officers work 12 hour shifts, rotating every 4 months.
Each Patrol shift if commanded by a shift Sergeant.

This is a specially-trained unit whose primary function is traffic enforcement with the added responsibility of funeral and needed escorts. Dumas motor officers are trained accident investigators and accident reconstruction specialist. Officers qualify through a basic motor officer school and train monthly. They work independently and are expected to aggressively enforce traffic laws.
