Wanted
The Dumas Police Department accepts applications continuously throughout the year and applications are kept on file until an opening is available.
 
All applicants will need to complete the following:
a. City of Dumas Employment Application.
b. Personal History Statement.
c. Authorization to release information.
These forms will need to be filled out completely. If a field does not apply to you mark it as such. Print legibly so that our personnel can read your information.
Enclose ALL requested documentation with your application forms.
 
When an opening becomes available you can expect the following:
a. Your application is assigned to a background investigator.
b. You will be contacted and scheduled to complete the Physical Agility testing.
c. You will be scheduled for an interview board. (Usually same day as Physical Agility).
d. recommendations will be forwarded to the Chief of Police for review, selected applicants will then be scheduled for a
     drug test and  a medical physical.
e. Upon successful completion of all phases an offer of employment may be offered.
f. You will be scheduled for final interview with Administration.
Each step must be completed before moving to the next. This is a lengthy process
All applicants to which employment is offered upon beginning their employment with the Dumas Police Department will undergo approximately a 1 week of Orientation before being assigned to a Field Training Officer to complete their 14 week Field Training Program.
Upon successful completion of the Field Training Program officers will be assigned to a patrol shift.
Upon successful completion of the 6 month probationary period officers may begin applying for training and special assignments such as SWAT and Motors.
